As the result of a stroke of paralysis suffered while he was visiting in Lafayette two weeks ago, James H. Servies, a well known farmer of Scott Township died at his home two miles south of Ladoga Saturday. When Mr. Servies became ill in Lafayette he was cared for until he apparently grew better. A week ago he was brought to his home and hope was held for his recovery but he suffered a relapse and grew weaker until death came Saturday. Mr. Servies had been a resident of Scott Township nearly all his life and he was one of the best known men in that part of the county. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Servies and 3 children: Manson, John and Mrs. Ella Delano. Henry Servies, county recorder is a nephew of the deceased. Mr. and Mrs. Servies left this morning to attend the funeral services, which were conducted from the late home at 10:30. The service was in charge of Rev. C.L. Airhart and burial was in Indian Creek Hill Cemetery. -- kbz
